This set is a tribute to one very old man from Oporto the "Duque da Ribeira".
Deocleciano Monteiro, popularly known as the Duke of Ribeira, (Porto, March 24, 1902 - Porto, November 9, 1996) was a boatman and charismatic figure in Oporto, Portugal.
Born and raised in Ribeira, in daily contact with the river Douro, with only eleven years, saved a man from drowning in the river and, thereafter, was the protagonist of numerous rescues in that location for decades.
It is said that it was his mother who began calling him Duque due to have difficulty in pronouncing Deocleciano.
